What is released time?

A Released Time Program is one in which- with parental approval- public schools release students for a small part of the school day to attend off-site religious instruction offered by a private sponsoring group. These classes are held off school grounds. Students are walked or will be bused to a nearby church or facility where they are taught a lesson.

Released time is legal! Released time is not a violation of separation of church and state. Released Time honors that principle by adhering to the guidelines established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1952.
